Accepting everyone’s personality and paying attention to what they’re able to do as opposed to what they can’t do.
卒業後、どのような人になってほしいですか？
What qualities do you want the students to have after they graduate?
卒業後は、自分自身を大切にし、自分の「好き」や思いを自信を持って表現できる人、そして周りの人に感謝の気持ちを持てる人に育ってほしいと願っています。
そのために、日々の生活の中で、自己肯定感の向上、自分の気持ちや考えを伝える力、そして思いやりの心を育むことに力を入れています。
After they graduate, I hope that they treat themselves well, express their passions and feelings confidently, and show gratitude to those around them.
I am focused on fostering their self-esteem, encouraging them to express their thoughts and feelings and to be grateful in their daily lives.

What is something interesting about the subject you teach?
G2(小学2年生)は個性豊かな子どもたちが多く、毎日がとても面白く、刺激的です。
私がこのクラスで大切にしているのは、子どもたちが日々の小さな自分の成長や努力、そして友だちの良いところに気づけることです。
アフターホームルームでは、「ATLスキル」や「学習者像」を使って1日の振り返りを行っています。
「今日はどんなスキルを頑張ったか」「どんな場面でどの学習者像になれたか」を自分の言葉で振り返ることで、できることが増えた実感を持ち、自信にもつながっていきます。
My G2 students are so unique and I learn so much from them that everyday is full of new discoveries.
I’m focused on making sure that they notice the small moments of growth and their hard work, as well as the positive qualities of their friends.
During the afternoon homeroom, we reflect on how the day went using ATL skills and the learner profile.
They reflect on what skills they worked on and which learned profile attributes they exhibited in a given situation using their own words. This process boosts their confidence, as they become aware of the skills they’ve gained.
これまでの教員生活で、特にやりがいを感じたことは？
What has been the most rewarding moment of your teaching career so far?
これまでの教員生活の中で、日々印象に残る出来事は増えていますが、最近特に印象に残っているのは、G1（小学1年生）からG2（小学2年生）へと持ち上がりで担任をした経験です。
近年は「教科横断的な学び」に力を入れており、探究学習のユニットと日本語や算数の授業を意識的に関連づけるようにしています。
G1のとき、「生き物」をテーマにした探究ユニットと合わせて、日本語の授業では「身を守る動物たち」という単元を学びました。授業や遊び時間の中で動物の真似をする姿も見られ、遊びを通して「身を守る」という意味を自然に理解していく子どもたちの姿が印象的でした。
そしてG2になり、再び「生き物」がテーマになったときのことです。子どもたちは、生き物の特徴や生息地について調べて発表を行いました。その中で、「G1のときのヤマアラシみたいに、身を守ってるんだね」と話す子がいました。そこから、生き物の生息地や、その生息地でどのようにして自分の身を守っているのかといった議論が自然と広がっていきました。
また、校外学習で訪れた国立博物館でも、展示を見ながら「このユニットで勉強したよね」「前のユニットとつながってるよね」と子どもたち自身が学びのつながりに気づく場面がありました。
学びの一つひとつが、探究を通じて子どもの中で「点」から「線」になり、まるでパズルのピースがはまっていくように理解が深まっていく。その瞬間の、目を輝かせたり、少し誇らしげな表情を見せる子どもたちの姿に、大きなやりがいと喜びを感じました。
The list of rewarding moments grows longer with each teaching year but one recent moment stands out. I experienced it with my G2 students, who I taught in G1 as well.
My current focus is on transdisciplinary learning, specifically tying UOI (Unit of Inquiry) classes, Japanese classes and math classes together.
In G1, along with a UOI unit on living things, the students learned about animals that protect themselves in Japanese class. They mimicked those animals during class and recess. Through play, they learned what it means to protect themselves, which made an impression on me.
When they entered G2, we revisited the topic of living things. The students gave a presentation about the characteristics of such animals and their habitat. One student talked about how this animal “protected itself like the porcupines we learned about in G1”. We then transitioned into a discussion about the animal’s habitat and how it protects itself there.
During a field trip, we visited a national museum. One student recalled something from a previous unit and made connections to what they had learned before.
Through inquiry learning, they learn everything and can connect the dots to form lines like puzzle pieces coming together. Seeing the sparkles in their eyes and holding their head up is rewarding.

How would you describe KIA?
学校の雰囲気は【成長中】という印象です。さくらインターナショナルスクール初等部は、新入生の学年が２クラスになってきました。なので、少人数の頃とは違うルールや取り組みが必要になってきています。少人数ならではの良さと、多人数だからこそ得られる楽しさの両方を大切にしながら、それぞれの良いところを活かした教育環境を築いていきたいと思っています。
Our school is constantly growing. At SIS (Sakura International School), we have had two classes for first grade students. We need different rules now that we have a larger number of students. Our goal is to build an educational environment that recognizes both the strengths of both small groups and larger groups and utilizes the best aspects of each.

他の教員との連携やサポート体制について教えてください。
What are your thoughts on working relationships with your coworkers and the support system?
マネージャーが明るくポジティブな方なので、職員室全体にも自然と明るい雰囲気が広がっていると感じています。
忙しい時期にはうまくいかないこともありますが、そんな時でも「やってみよう」と前向きなアイディアを出し合いながら、チームとして協力して取り組めていると思います。
優しい先生方が多く、相談やお願い事もしやすい雰囲気があり、何かあったときには時間を取って話を聞いてくださるので、個人的にもとてもありがたく感じています。
インターナショナルの先生方もとても協力的で、「日本人の仕事だから」という線引きをせず、「一緒に考えて、より良い方法を見つけよう」という姿勢で関わってくれます。
私の拙い英語にも真剣に耳を傾け、意見を受け入れてくれる姿勢に、日々感謝しています。
Our teacher’s office reflects the warm and positive personality of our manager.
Although not everything goes smoothly during busy periods, we encourage each other to share ideas and keep moving forward. We work very well as a team.
It’s easy to ask advice or favors from the teachers because they are so kind. They make time for us when something comes up , and I’m very grateful for that.
We also work well with the international teachers. Rather than dismissing something as a job for Japanese teachers, everyone works together to make improvements.
I am grateful for the fact that they listen to me even when my English is poor and that they take my opinions seriously.
