KIAに編入された経緯を教えてください。
Please tell us why you chose our school.

香港では、幼稚園・小学校共に、日本語と英語が使われる学校に通っていました。香港での小学校がIB教育であったことから日本に帰国してからも、IBかつバイリンガルで学習できる学校があればと探していたところ、関西国際学園のHPに辿り着きました。

子どもたちファーストの学校であること、子どもたちを一番に考え、楽しい授業をしてくれるこの学校に子どもたちも通わせたいという考えから、編入しました。

When we lived in Hong Kong, my daughter used both Japanese and English during kindergarten and elementary school. Because she went to an IB elementary school in Hong Kong, we were looking for an IB school (and a bilingual school ideally). And we stumbled upon the Kansai International Academy homepage. 

I saw that the school put children first and there were so many fun classes for children so we chose KIA as the school for our children.

学校を選ぶ際に大切にしたこと（基準）はありますか？
What were your criteria for choosing a school?

日本語と英語、両方とも学ぶことができる環境であること。IBカリキュラムの学校であること。この二つを大切に、学校選びを行いました。

It was especially important for us that it was a school that taught in both Japanese and English. Also, it was important that it be an IB school.

What curriculum is particularly attractive at KIA?

お子様と学校のお話はされますか？ どんなお話をされているか、教えてください。
Do you talk to your child about school? If so, what do you talk about specifically?

学校でのお友達との話、授業のこと、担任の先生のこと、リセス・放課後の話など、色々な話をします。特に、印象的なのは、授業の話です。

英語の授業は特に楽しく、先生が面白い授業をしてくれるから、毎回楽しく学習できているそうです。

また、お友達の話も面白く、賑やかなお友達が多いそうですが、この子はこんなことが得意で、この子はこんなことができるんだよ。今日は、誰々が助けてくれたよ。と、一人一人の良さを見つけ、教えてくれるのがとても記憶に残っています。

We talk about many things, whether that’s classes, their homeroom teachers, recess, what they do after school and many other things. When they talk to me about their classes, that’s when it’s the most memorable. They are enjoying English classes especially because their teachers make the classes engaging. 

Also they talk to me often about their friends. They tell me about what each of their friends are good at and interested in and that so and so helped them today. What I remember the most from what they tell me is that they are good at finding positive aspects of their friends.

Please tell us what you would recommend regarding KIA.

• 厳しすぎず、子ども個性や自主性を大切にしてくれるところ。

• The open atmosphere. 
• The school isn’t too strict and can respect the students.
• Lastly, the teachers are unique and the students can learn in a fun way.
