関西国際学園は、日本人としてのアイデンティティを大切にし、日本語教育をしっかりと行うことを理念として掲げている点に魅力を感じました。

子どもは言語や環境が変わっても柔軟に適応する力を持っていると感じています。海外在住中でも、英語を第二言語とし、家庭ではそれぞれの母語で生活しているご家庭が多く見られました。そのような多様な環境の中で、言語の違いを越えて友人関係を築き、ともに成長していくことの素晴らしさを実感しました。KIAの環境は、そのような価値観と合致していると感じています。

Kansai International Academy fosters the Japanese identity and focuses on building language skills in Japanese. 

Children can adapt to changes around them, such as a new environment or a language. When we lived abroad, many of the families around us spoke English as a second language and their native language at home. In such a diverse environment, I experienced how wonderful it can be to build a friendship across a language barrier and help each other grow. The environment at KIA embodies the same set of values.

学校を選ぶ際に大切にしたこと（基準）はありますか？
What were your criteria for choosing a school?

現地校での学習内容とかけ離れすぎず、これまでの学びを無理なく継続できる環境であることを重視しました。

It was especially important for us to choose an environment where our children build on what they had learned in Australia.

関西国際学園に編入を決めた理由を教えてください。
Please tell us why you chose Kansai International Academy for your child

自宅から通える範囲に帰国生枠があったこと、またIB（国際バカロレア）ディプロマの取得が可能である点に魅力を感じ、編入を決めました。

KIA offers an exam for returnee students, is within commuting distance and it offers the IB (International Baccalaureate) program.

関西国際学園のカリキュラムの中で特に魅力的だと思われるものは？
What curriculum is particularly attractive at KIA?

IBの授業は自らの意見をまとめて、発表するということを基本としています。また、あらかじめ課題スケジュールを知らされ、その提出日に向けて、自分で計画を立てマルチタスクをこなしていくという姿が垣間見れるのも大変魅力的だと感じております。

あと、行事ごとは縦割りで学年の垣根をこえて協力し行事を作り上げる点です。

The IB expects students to form and organize their thoughts and present them. Also, their schedules are clearly laid out in advance so that students learn to plan ahead, work backward from their deadlines, and manage their own workload. 

The fact that students work across grade levels is appealing as well.

少人数制で、いつでも先生に質問できる環境が整っている点です。

下の子は帰国当初、日本語がほとんど分からない状態でしたが、どのようにすれば国語に興味を持てるかを先生方が一緒に考えてくださり、丁寧にご指導いただいています。

The small class size makes it easier to ask teachers questions.

My youngest child spoke little Japanese when we returned to Japan. However, my child’s teacher is dedicated and came up with ways to gauge their interest in Japanese.
