関西国際学園初等部とさくらインターナショナルスクール初等部のG4〜6（小学4〜6年生）合同で、シルバーウィークを活用して山のキャンパスを冒険してきました！
山のキャンパスは、2027年4月に本格的に開校予定ですが、開校を待たずして最高の時間を過ごして来ました。
神戸校チームは土曜日の昼下がりに山のキャンパスで東京チームと、中高等部のボランティアの先輩たちと合流して、午後の探検を楽しみました。
まずは山を下って烏原川へ向かい、川底を歩きながら、メダカ、アサリ、トンボ、サンショウウオなどの生き物を探しました。
そして、キャンプ場までの長い道のりを登り、広々とした野原でくつろぎ、自然を満喫しながら、学年、キャンパスをまたいだ友達、先輩との交流を楽しみました。
中高生リーダーたちのサポートを受けながら、夕食のカレーライスの準備と調理に挑戦！野菜を切る作業までは楽しく、順調でしたが、時折吹く突風との格闘が続きました。
それでも一致団結して作った、山で食べるカレーライスは、何よりも美味しく沢山おかわりもしました。ヘッドライトや懐中電灯、キャンプ用ランタンの明かりの下で食事をするのも楽しい体験となりました。
後片付けを終えた後、クラブハウスまでの山道を歩きました。とっても疲れたけれど、自然の中での活動は、大きな達成感で満たされました。
今回のアウトドア体験を通じて、関西国際学園ならではの「山のキャンパス」がもたらす自由、美しさ、そして心身のリフレッシュを肌で感じることができました。
Over the Silver Week holiday, G4-6 of the Kobe and Tokyo campuses had a special chance to visit the Mountain Campus. Even though the Mountain Campus will open in April 2027, we could hold this amazing camp on the beautiful field now.
Kobe students headed for the camp just after lunch on Saturday, where they joined the others for an afternoon of exploration. First up was a trek down the mountain to the Karasuhara river, where students walked the river bed looking for living things such as medaka fish, clams, dragonflies, and salamanders. Then, after the long hike back up to our camp, students relaxed in the open field soaking up nature and the companionship of friends from other campuses as well as their own classmates.
With the support of their secondary student leaders, each group worked hard to prepare and cook their dinner of curry rice. It was fun to cut the vegetables, but figuring out how to deal with the wind was a challenge that each group faced with determination. In the end, everyone could feast on the meal made by their own hands. Even eating in the dark was fun with the headlamps and flashlights and camp lanterns!
After cleaning up, each Kobe student made the final walk up to the clubhouse to return home tired, but happy with overcoming the challenges of the day. This unique tent camping experience gave them a taste of the freedom, beauty, and rejuvenation available at our special Mountain Campus.
