9月26日（土）、初等部・中高等部の児童生徒が徳島県阿南市の淡島海岸を訪れ、サーフィン体験を行いました。
当日は朝早くに学校へ集合し、バスで徳島へ向けて出発。現地に到着すると、まずは陸上でインストラクターの方々から、パドリングやボードの上で立ち上がる動作について丁寧に指導していただきました。
動きのイメージをつかんだ後は、いよいよ海へ。インストラクターの方々に良い波を選んでいただきながら、陸上で練習した動きを実際の波の上で再現していきます。
驚いたことに，数回練習しただけで、波に乗りながらボードの上に立ち上がる児童生徒の姿が次々と見られました。最終的にはほとんどのメンバーがボードの上に立ち、それぞれに波乗りを楽しむことができました。
体験の最後には、チームに分かれてパドリングリレーにも挑戦。仲間と声を掛け合いながら、最後まで海での活動を楽しみました。
体験後はシャワーで海水を洗い流し、少し遅めの昼食をとってから学園へ。朝早くからの長い一日となりましたが、多くの初めての経験を、すぐに実践し習得していく児童生徒の姿がとても印象的でした。
今回、丁寧なご指導と安全な体験環境を整え、児童生徒に素晴らしい時間を提供してくださったインストラクターの皆様に、心より感謝申し上げます。
また、早朝からの送迎や準備、当日の活動など、さまざまな形でご協力くださった保護者の皆様にも、改めて御礼申し上げます。皆様のご協力のおかげで、児童生徒にとって新しいことに挑戦する、充実した一日となりました。
On Saturday, September 26, students from both our Elementary and Secondary Schools visited Awashima Beach in Anan City, Tokushima Prefecture, for a surfing experience.
The students gathered at school early in the morning and set off for Tokushima by bus. Upon arrival, they first received careful instruction from the surfing instructors on land, learning the basics of paddling and how to stand up on a surfboard.
Once they had practiced the movements and gained a sense of what to do, it was finally time to head into the ocean. With the instructors helping them choose the right waves, the students put into practice what they had learned on land.
To our surprise, after only a few attempts, we began to see students successfully standing up on their boards and riding the waves. By the end of the session, almost everyone had managed to stand up and enjoy the exciting experience of surfing.
To finish the activity, the students were divided into teams and took part in a paddling relay. Encouraging one another and working together, they enjoyed every last moment of their time in the ocean.
After the surfing session, everyone rinsed off the seawater, enjoyed a slightly late lunch, and then headed back to school. It was a long day that had begun early in the morning, but it was wonderful to see how quickly our students embraced new experiences, put what they had learned into practice, and developed new skills.
