小学5年生〜高校3年生の児童・生徒たちを対象としたキャリアガイダンスイベント「NEXT LEADERS」を開催しました！
記念すべき第1回のゲストにお迎えしたのは、株式会社メルカリ取締役会長で株式会社鹿島アントラーズFC 代表取締役社長の小泉文明さんです。
小泉さんからは、中学時代の進学校での挫折から「人と同じことをやっても勝てない」と気づいた原体験や、当時夢中だったスニーカーやパソコン、サッカーへの情熱がそのまま今のメルカリや鹿島アントラーズの経営へ繋がっているという熱いストーリーをお話しいただきました。
一見関係のない過去の「好き」が未来へと繋がっていく「コネクティング・ザ・ドッツ」のお話に、目を輝かせて耳を傾ける生徒たちの姿がとても印象的でした。
講演後の質疑応答セッションでは、生徒たちから
「大人になるって楽しいですか？」
「中高生のうちにやっておいたことはいいことは？」
「これからAIが普及する中で、僕たちが今一番身につけるべき力は何ですか？」
「『良いリーダーシップ』や『成功』とは、何だと考えますか？」
といった本質的な質問が次々と飛び出しました。
小泉さんは生徒一人ひとりの目を見つめながら、
「失敗は学びの機会でしかない」
「AI時代だからこそ『これがやりたい』という自分自身の意思や熱量が最大の武器になる」
と、丁寧に熱く答えてくださいました。
憧れのリーダーと直接対話し、自分の問いを受け止めてもらった経験は、生徒たちにとって大きな自信と刺激になったはずです。
失敗を恐れず、自分の本音で仲間と向き合いながら夢に向かって進む姿勢を、この特別な交流を通じて感じ取ってもらえたら嬉しいです。

We held a career guidance event called “Next Leaders”, aimed for Grade five through twelve students.
Our guest for the first ever event was Fumiaki Koizumi, who is the founder of Mercari and CEO of Kashima Antlers.
Mr. Koizumi told us that he realized he could not compete by doing the same things as others when he was at a highly academic middle and high school. He talked passionately about how his love for sneakers, computers and soccer as a student led to him founding Mercari and being the owner of the Kashima Antlers.
Students had sparkles in their eyes as they listened to him discuss how seemingly unrelated passions lead to the future by “connecting the dots”.
During the Q&A session, students asked questions like “Is being an adult fun?”, “What should I do while I’m in middle and high school?”, “What skills should we acquire in the age of AI?”, “What do good leadership and success look like?”
Mr. Koizumi answered each question while looking the student asking it in the eye. “Failure is nothing but a learning opportunity”, “In the age of AI, having the passion and drive to say ‘I’m passionate about this’ will be your greatest asset”.
The students gained confidence and inspiration from meeting a leader they admired who took the time to answer each of their questions.
Through this special encounter, we hope that the students think deeply about their dreams and strive towards them with their peers without being afraid to fail.
We would like to thank Mr. Koizumi and every student and parents who attended the event. Through our Next Leaders events, we will provide opportunities for students to expand their horizons and explore new possibilities.
