9月4日（金）、関西国際学園神戸校にて、岡山大学 教育推進機構 IB入試推進室 室長のMahmood Sabina准教授を昨年に引き続きお迎えし、G5（小学5年生）〜G12（高校3年生）の児童生徒および保護者を対象とした特別説明会を開催しました。
今回の説明会では、2027年度の国際バカロレア選抜を中心に、出願・選抜方法、岡山大学で学ぶIB生の様子、卒業後の進路、そして医学部をはじめとする各学部での学びについて、具体的にご紹介いただきました。
岡山大学では長年にわたりIBを活用した入試を実施しており、2026年4月時点でIB入試等による入学者は累計189名。国内18都道府県、海外22の国と地域のIB校から学生を受け入れ、医学部医学科をはじめ、工学部、歯学部、教育学部など幅広い分野でIB生が学んでいます。
説明会では、IBで培った力が大学入学後の学びにもつながっていることも紹介されました。Extended Essay（EE）で培ったリサーチ力は大学での研究や論文執筆に、Theory of Knowledge（TOK）で培った思考力や対話する力はディスカッション中心の授業に、CASでの経験はクラブ活動や学外研修に生かされています。
生徒たちは真剣に説明に耳を傾け、質疑応答ではIB入試や医学部での学び、大学生活について積極的に質問していました。
今回の説明会は、生徒たちがIBを生かした国内大学進学の可能性を知り、「大学で何を学び、その学びを将来どのように生かしていくのか」を考える貴重な機会となりました。

【Okayama University Information Session Held at KIA Kobe Campus】
On Friday, September 4, Kansai International Academy Kobe Campus welcomed Associate Professor Sabina Mahmood, Director of the IB Admissions Promotion Office at Okayama University, for a special information session for G5–G12 students and parents.
The session focused on Okayama University’s 2027 International Baccalaureate admissions process, including application and selection procedures, the experiences of IB students at the university, post-graduation pathways, and academic opportunities across various faculties, including the Faculty of Medicine.
Okayama University has a long history of admitting students through its IB admissions pathway. As of April 2026, a total of 189 IB students had enrolled at the university, coming from IB schools across 18 prefectures in Japan and 22 countries and regions worldwide. Today, IB students are studying in a wide range of fields, including medicine, engineering, dentistry, and education.
The presentation also highlighted how the skills developed through the IB continue to support students at university. Research skills gained through the Extended Essay (EE) are applied to university research and academic writing; the critical thinking and discussion skills developed through Theory of Knowledge (TOK) are used in discussion-based classes; and experiences gained through CAS continue through extracurricular activities and off-campus programmes.
Our students listened attentively throughout the presentation and actively participated in the Q&A session, asking questions about IB admissions, studying medicine, and university life.
The session provided a valuable opportunity for our students to discover the possibilities of using their IB education to pursue higher education in Japan and to reflect on an important question: What do I want to learn at university, and how can I use that learning in the future?
