「創造力（Creativity）」という言葉を聞くと、まず絵画や音楽といった芸術的な表現を思い浮かべる方が多いかもしれません。
けれども、創造力は芸術家が名作を描くときだけに発揮されるものではありません。教育家ケン・ロビンソン氏が語るように、創造力とは「価値のある独自のアイデアを生み出すプロセス」です。つまり、創造力はあらゆる場面に存在し、無限の形で表れるものなのです。
9月に私たちは子どもたちと共に“創造力を祝う”ことをテーマに過ごしました。
その取り組みを通して、一人ひとりが自分らしい方法で創造的であること、そしてその表現の豊かさを改めて実感しました。
子どもたちがクレヨンでカラフルな物語を描いたり、ブロックを積み上げて新しい形をつくったりする時、そこには「新しい発想に挑戦する力」があります。
パターンを見つけ、アイデアを試し、問題を解決する——そんな過程の中で、創造力は生き生きと輝きます。
また、遊びの中にも創造力があふれています。
ごっこ遊びをしたり、ヒーローになりきったり、友だちと新しいゲームを考え出したり。子どもたちは日々、自然と創造を実践しています。
彼らはアイデアを組み合わせ、想像をふくらませ、自分の思いを自由に表現します。こうした瞬間を大切にすることで、「正解はひとつではない」「自分の考えには価値がある」という大切なメッセージを伝えることができます。
新しいことに挑戦する時、うまくいかないこともあります。
でも、やり直したり、別のやり方を試したりするうちに、「失敗は恐れるものではなく、成長へのステップである」ことを学びます。
つまり創造力とは、想像する力だけでなく、勇気や好奇心、そしてあきらめない心でもあるのです。
創造することは、子どもたちに喜びと笑顔をもたらします。
新しいことを考え、試し、発見する姿は、私たちの教室に笑い声と驚き、そして感動を運んでくれます。
ブロックの塔を積むたびに、絵を描くたびに、遊びを生み出すたびに、子どもたちは自分だけのオリジナリティを輝かせています。
私たちはこの学校で創造力を讃えることで、子どもたちが自分のアイデアを大切にし、他者の考えも尊重できるようになってほしいと願っています。
創造力は特別な才能ではなく、すべての子どもたちがもともと持っている力。
毎日の中で、その力を育み、発揮していけるよう応援していきます。
創造力はどこにでもあり、誰の中にもあります。
そしてそれを育み、称えることで、私たちは「今の世界」だけでなく「これからの可能性」にも目を向けることができるのです。
The Power of Creativity
When we talk about creativity, the word art—in its most visual and expressive forms—often comes to mind first. However, creativity is not limited to artists crafting masterpiece paintings, nor to musicians composing music. As Sir Ken Robinson explains, creativity is “the process of having original ideas that have value.” In other words, creativity exists everywhere and can take countless forms beyond traditional art.
Last September, we chose to celebrate creativity with our children as a way to remind everyone that each of them is creative in their own unique way. Surprisingly, we discovered the many ways they express their imagination, which helped us redefine what it truly means to be creative.
When children use their crayons to tell colorful stories or carefully stack blocks to build something new, they are giving their best effort to think in exciting and original ways.They are discovering patterns, testing ideas, and finding solutions. In these simple activities, creativity truly comes to life.
We also see creativity in play, which is a child’s natural laboratory for learning. Whether they are role-playing with dolls, pretending to be superheroes, or inventing a new game with friends, our children are practicing creativity every day. They combine ideas, imagine possibilities, and express themselves freely. By celebrating these moments, we remind children that there is no single right way to create, and that their ideas matter.
When they try something new, they may not succeed at first, but they learn to try again or explore a different approach. This process teaches them that mistakes are not something to fear, but opportunities to learn and grow. Creativity, therefore, is not just about imagination—it is also about courage, curiosity, and persistence.
Creativity also brings joy and bright smiles to our children. Watching them explore, imagine, and invent fills our classrooms with laughter, excitement, and wonder. Every tower they build, every story they draw, and every game they invent is a celebration of their originality.
By celebrating creativity in our school, we hope to inspire children to value their own ideas and respect the ideas of others. Every child can be a creator in their own way. Every tower, drawing, story, or new game is a testament to their originality. Creativity is not something they need to grow into—it is something they are born with and can practice every day.
Let us all remember that creativity is everywhere, in everyone, and in everything we do. By encouraging and celebrating it, we help our children—and ourselves—see the world not only as it is, but as it could be.
