先生として最も大切にしていることは？What is the most important thing to keep in mind as an educator?
教えること・知識などと子どもたちが自分で経験して学ぶ環境を持つことのバランス。
教えること＝ひらがな・カタカナ・漢字、語彙（日本語英語）、言葉遣い、鉄棒でどうやって前回りをするか、アートの技法（ハサミの使い方やのりの量など）など
自分で経験して学ぶ環境＝のりが少なくて剥がれたからもっと塗ろう、友だちとおもちゃをシェアしたら一緒に遊べてもっと楽しい感覚
自分で経験して学ぶ環境を整える、先生としてそれを待つ余裕を持つ、がずっと難しいけれど大切にしている感覚です。
Maintaining a balance between teaching and giving them knowledge and making sure they can learn on their own through experiences.
What I teach them:
Hiragana, katana, kanji, vocabulary in both English and Japanese, language usage, how to do a front hip circle, etc.
Creating an environment where they can learn for themselves:
I teach them to apply more glue when there isn’t enough, or teach them the joy of sharing toys with friends, etc.
I try to create an environment in which they can learn for themselves and I try to have patience during those moments.
卒園後、どのような人になってほしいですか？What qualities do you want the students to have after they graduate?
人の気持ちを思いやれる人、想像力のある人
目に見えるものだけで判断するのではなく、「その後どうなるか？」「相手はどう思うか？」など目に見えない部分を考えさせる問いかけを意識しています。
Someone who is considerate and can read between the lines.
I ask questions like “what happens then?” and “what does the other person think?” to encourage them to think about things that may not be tangible.
「遊び」から得られることは？What can children learn through playing?
遊び＝自分で試行錯誤する感覚を身に付けるチャンス
完璧・正解を求めなくても、「自分が好きならこれでいい・これがいい」を積み重ねてそれが自信になっていく。
例えば、幼稚園で折り紙の折り方を学ぶ場合
その後自由遊びの中でそれを自分のものにしていくつも作ったり、繋げて遊びがどんどん発展していく楽しさから、折り紙が好きになる・得意になって自信が身に付く。教えられただけではそこまでの探究心は芽生えないが、自分で深めたり発展させたりして好奇心が刺激されて楽しみながら好きが深まって、得意・自信に繋がる。「遊び」はあくまで自発的にすることが大切だから、先生はその遊びの最初の取っ掛かりを見つけるために環境を整える役割。
Playing is an opportunity to try new things through trial-and-error.
Rather than searching for the correct answer, the children can learn to pursue what they like, which leads to confidence.
For example, learning to fold origami at kindergarten. Based on what they were taught, they can make it their own, fold different origami, they can learn to enjoy and get better at origami by developing it further. Simply being taught doesn’t spark their curiosity but the process of applying what they learned stimulates their curiosity and passion. This is how they gain confidence. It is important that this process of playing comes from the children themselves and that the teachers are there to encourage it.
KIAの教育の魅力は何だと思いますか？What do you think makes the education at KIA appealing?
「transdisciplinary」=学問分野や専門分野の枠を超えて、複数の分野の知識や視点を統合し、より複雑な問題を解決しようとするアプローチを体現しているところ。
それにより、「自らやってみたい」「聞いて欲しい」思いを育てることで、自然と読み書き能力や話す力・聞く力の向上につながっている点。さらにそれがバイリンガルである点。
It embodies transdisciplinary learning, which is the process of solving complex problems by tying together knowledge and perspectives across multiple disciplines.
This process encourages the children to want to try things and be heard, which improves their listening, reading, speaking and writing skills. All of this is done bilingually.
他の教員との連携やサポート体制について教えてください。What are your thoughts on working relationships with your coworkers and the support system?
上司から言われることが絶対、という雰囲気がない。疑問に思うことは直接やチャットでも相手に声を掛けられるので、モヤモヤを抱える機会が少なく、とても風通しが良いと感じる。自分が一年目の時に先輩に温かく声を掛けられ、困ったときは相談できる環境があり、とても働きやすいと感じていたので、今自分が主任になった立場として周りの先生たちに何かを強制したり、相手が委縮したりすることがないように気を付けています。
What your superior says is not necessarily the final word. If you have a disagreement, you can talk to them directly or through chat. This structure makes me feel heard. In my first year of work, my senior colleagues gave me kind words so the structure was there for me to ask for help whenever I needed it. I feel comfortable working here so now that I’m the head teacher, I make sure not to force anything on anyone and make anyone feel intimidated.

当園に入園を検討している皆様は早期教育や探究学習・非認知能力を伸ばす教育に関心があると思います。親として子どもに何を与えられるかを考えると思いますが、保育者としては実際に与えるよりも子どもから受け取るものが多いなと感じる日々です。
私たち大人ができることはあくまでサポートであり、ずんずん成長する子どもたちの周りの環境を整え、好奇心を刺激し、困った時悩んだ時には安心して甘えられる基地となることです。親だけではできないこと、保育士だけではできないことが、一緒にならばできると信じています。ぜひこれからの時代を生きる子どもたちの可能性を伸ばし、好きを見つけて、豊かな人間性を育んでいきましょう。
If you are interested in our kindergarten, you are probably interested in early childhood learning and non-cognitive learning. You’ve probably spent time thinking about what you can give to the children but as a teacher, I feel that they give me so much. The only thing that the adults can do is support the children and create an environment in which they can flourish and be a safe base for them whenever they need help. There are things that parents and teachers cannot achieve on their own but become possible when we work together. In an unpredictable future, let’s nurture children’s potential, help them discover their passions and help them develop a rich personality.
