さくらインターナショナルスクールに入園を決めた理由を教えてください。Please tell us why you chose Sakura International School.
私たちの想いは、息子が息子自身の幸せを自ら見つけ、毎日幸せ！と思える人生を生きてほしい！と願っております。
そのためにも世界共通語である英語を学び、たくさんの選択肢を広げ、その中から自分だけの幸せを自ら掴んで欲しいと思っております。
さらに日本人として生まれたアイデンティティーも大切に育ってほしい！と思っておりました。
そんな私たちがさくらインターナショナルスクールに出会い、教育理念や学園長のお話を聞いて、まさにこちらの教育が私たちが求めていたものだ！と思い、入園を希望しました。
あと少人数制ということにも惹かれました。それぞれの個性を大事にしてくださる、そうするにはやはり多人数だとなかなか難しいことだと思います。
We hope that our son can find happiness on his own terms and lead a joyful life.
To help him achieve this, we want him to learn English, which is a universal language. Learning it can open many doors and allow him to find his own path to happiness.
At the same time, we want him to cherish his Japanese identity.
When we found Sakura International School, we knew it was exactly what we were looking for so we enrolled our son.
We were also drawn to the small class size which allows the children to develop their personalities and talents. In a large school, that’s not always possible.
お子さんが探究学習をしているんだなと実感したご家庭でのエピソードがあれば教えてください。Please give us an anecdote about your child’s inquiry-based learning at home.
まずK2（年中）でこのレベルのことを探究しながら学ぶんだ！ということに驚きましたし、それをみんな楽しんで学べていることに感激でした。
ちなみに今息子のクラスでやっている探究学習は、再利用することについて学んでいるようです。
身の回りの再利用でできているものを探し、実際に自分たちの身の回りには、再利用でできているものが溢れていることを学びました。
そして、実際に古くなったクレヨンを自分たちで集めて、それを溶かして新しい虹色のクレヨンを作るなど、自分ごととして世界のことを学んでおります。家でもそういったことを質問してきたり、教えてくれたりしてくれて、私もSISに通いたかったなぁ〜としみじみ思います。
I was surprised that the content was much more difficult than what I was anticipating for K2 children but I was impressed that they enjoyed learning it.
Right now, they are learning about reusing items for their inquiry-based learning.
They looked for everyday items that they could recycle and learned that there are so many things that we can reuse.
They all collected old crayons, melted them and made a rainbow crayon. They are learning about the outside world firsthand. Our son not only asks us about it but also teaches us what he learned. I wish I could go back in time and attend SIS.
SISのカリキュラムの中で特に魅力的だと思われるものは？How is the KIA/SIS curriculum?
常に新しく今の時代にあったカリキュラムに更新され、まさに生きていくために必要な学びを教えてくださる素晴らしいカリキュラムだと思います。自分たちで考える力、想像力、これからの時代を生きていくことを教えてくれています。
学習内容なども子どもたちで考え、それをテーマに探究学習をしてくださいます。先日は、息子がお友達に書いたお手紙を教室でなくしてしまったのですが、その後、教室にポストを作ってくださり、起きた出来事をみんなで学ぶ学習に変えてくださっていて、素晴らしいなと思っておりました。日本の教育のように流れにそう学びではなく、臨機応変にそれぞれに合った学びをしてくださるところに、本当に感動しております。
The curriculum is constantly upgraded to make sure it is up to date. It teaches children the skills they need for an uncertain future, such as independent thinking and imagination.
The children decide what they’re going to learn and the curriculum is shaped around it. The other day, a friend misplaced a letter they received from my son but later the class set up a mailbox. I think it’s so wonderful that this created a learning opportunity for everyone. The Japanese education system is rigid, so I am deeply moved by how flexible learning is here, and how it suits everyone’s needs.
印象に残っているイベントがあれば教えてください。Please tell us about an event that has left an impression on you.
スポーツデーに、ウィンターセレブレーションは毎年子どもたちの成長を感じられ、可愛いであふれています！そして、特に印象に残っているイベントは、ピアノの発表会です。マーメイドクラス（2歳児）の時に初めて参加して、こんなに立派なホールで、1人で舞台に立つなんてできるのかな…と心配でしたが、結果とても貴重な経験になり、あの日からステージに立つ楽しさを知り、ぐんと成長した出来事になりました。そして、息子は、ピアノ楽しい！と思うきっかけになりました。今K2（年中）で3回目の発表会がありましたが、年齢が上がる度に、緊張感、達成感も増し、目標に向かって日々練習することの大切さ、そして、大きな自信、他にもたくさんのことを学ばせていただけるこの機会は、本当に大切なイベントだと思っております。
During Sports Day and Winter Celebration every year, we can see how much the children have grown. They are absolutely adorable! The events that left the biggest impression on me were the piano recitals. Our son played in a recital when he was in Mermaid Class for two year olds, and we were worried if he would be able to perform on stage in such a majestic venue. This turned out to be a valuable experience. Since that day, he’s learned the joy of standing on stage which helped him grow. Through the recitals, he learned the joy of playing the piano. He is in K2 and he had his third recital. As he gets older, he experiences more anxiety but also a sense of accomplishment. He has learned the importance of working towards a goal every day which has given him a boost of confidence. Through these precious opportunities, he’s learned so many things that it would be impossible to list them all here.
SISの推しポイントがあれば教えてください。What would you recommend about KIA/SIS to other people?
先生方の素晴らしさ、先生方の手厚いサポート(子ども、親関係なくサポートして頂いております)アットホームさ、子どもたちがこれからの未来に生きていく学びを学べる学習内容が素晴らしいです。
また、少人数制で一人一人の個性をしっかりみてくださり、それぞれが発言できる環境であることも人に推したいポイントです。
さらに、単に英語を教えるだけでなく、日本語や日本の文化、日本人のアイデンティティーを軸に、英語や異文化の教育を深めてくださるところもポイントです。
そして、子どもたちの自己肯定感が本当に高く、心穏やかに育っているように感じます。
親の私たちも一緒に成長する為の学びの場を設けてくださり、私たちの気持ちに寄り添ってくださったりと、二人三脚で子育てをしているような、とても大きな存在となっています。
それから、学園長のお話は、本当に楽しく、大きな学びが毎回あるので是非聞いていただきたいです！
The teachers are wonderful. They are always supportive of the children and parents, it feels like home and the curriculum prepares the children for the future.
Because the class sizes are small, the teachers can pay attention to each child and give each child a chance to speak.
The children are taught English and about cultures outside of Japan but the curriculum is centered on the Japanese language and culture, which is what makes it great.
The children have high self-esteem and are growing up with a peace of mind.
This school plays such an important role in our lives. It’s like a partner that helps us raise our son. It also gives us the parents a chance to grow and take care of our own needs.
I would recommend hearing Ms. Nakamura speak because we always learn so much from her and her talks always bring us joy.

息子が毎日スクールに通うことを楽しみしていることが何よりも嬉しいです。
そして先生方が子どもたちを愛してくれていることを感じられるとても良い学校だと思います。
そして、息子だけではなく、親の私たちも毎日の送迎でスクールに行った際に、先生方や保護者さんたちに会えることが楽しみになっております。
また子どもたちだけでなく、親も学べる場がたくさんあり、一緒に成長できるスクールはなかなかないのではないでしょうか。
学校の学びを親としてどのようにサポートしていくべきかなど、色々な観点からたくさんのお話を聞くことができます。
We are thrilled that our son is excited to go to kindergarten every day.
It’s a wonderful place where the teachers care deeply about the children.
As parents, we enjoy seeing not only our son, but also talking to the teachers, the other children and their parents during pickup.
Not many kindergartens present parents with opportunities for learning and growing alongside the children.
The kindergarten teaches us different ways to support the children’s learning at home as parents.
