11月になり、葉っぱの色が赤や黄色へと美しく色付き始めました。また朝晩は白い息が見えるほど寒くなり、冬の足音の近付きを感じます。本格的な冬が来る前に、生活リズムや服装、食生活などを見直しましょう。
安全教育（交通）
外遊びで近隣の公園に行ったり、校外学習（遠足）にでかけたり、外に出る機会が多い幼稚園部の子どもたち。交通ルールを守り、自分で判断して行動することは大変重要です。あらゆる場面を通じ、子どもたちが安全に行動できるようにするため、幼稚園部では安全教育を行っています。
今回は、あるキャンパスのK3（年長）クラスが行った「交通安全の発表」の様子をご紹介します。K3の子どもたちは、探究学習で「交通安全とは何か」について自分たちの知っていることを話し合うことから始めました。さらには園を飛び出して、自分たちの住んでいる地域で見られる標識を探し、それぞれの意味を考えたり、まとめたりして発表の準備を進めました。
発表では、K3の子どもたちが年下のK1（年少）やK2（年中）の友だちに交通ルールを教えます。発表を聞くK1やK2クラスの子達は興味津々！K3のみんなは、標識や交通ルールについて、はきはきと分かりやすく説明できました。その表情は達成感に満ち溢れていました。
発表後の「横断歩道を渡る体験」では、お約束は「青信号になったら、右を見て、左を見て。しっかり手をあげて、確認してから横断歩道を渡る」。各クラスのみんなが交通ルールを再確認し、横断歩道を安全に渡る練習ができました。
今回のK3クラスの発表は、幼稚園部の子どもたち全員にとって安全の重要性を理解し、交通安全を守るための具体的な方法を楽しく学ぶ機会となりました。
Safety education (traffic)
The month of November is here and the leaves are changing color beautifully to red and yellow. During the morning and evening, our breaths form a white mist in the cold, which means that winter is just around the corner.
The kindergarten children enjoy a variety of outside activities, like going to a park nearby or going on a field trip. It is important that each child learn to follow traffic rules and think for themselves. The kindergarten provides traffic safety education for all kinds of scenarios so that they can act safely in the moment.
Here is the traffic safety presentation that the K3 students gave. The K3 students began the process by discussing what they know about traffic safety during inquiry learning. They found traffic signs outside of our kindergarten, thought about what they meant and worked on their presentations.
During the presentation, the K3 children taught K1 and K2 friends how traffic rules work. The K1 and K2 children were so eager to learn! The K3 children were able to explain the traffic signs and rules clearly. You can see they were filled with a sense of accomplishment.
The K3 presentation was an important opportunity for all the children to learn about the importance of safety and following traffic safety rules.
