ご入園、ご進級おめでとうございます。ドキドキワクワクの中で、新しいクラスでの生活がスタートしました。子どもたちが楽しく健やかに成長していけるよう、見守っていきたいと思います。
乳幼児部では、4月1週目にスタッフ研修を行いました。安全面や子どもの発達に関する研修、カリキュラムのアップデート情報の共有や、生徒情報の引き継ぎ、クラス準備、新人研修など盛りだくさんの内容です。
新年度を迎えるにあたり、より良いチームワークの関係構築のためチームビルディング研修も実施しました。あるキャンパスでは、チームで紙30枚を使い、限られた時間で自立したタワーを作る、「ペーパータワー」のアクティビティを行いました。
土台をしっかり作らないと、高くは積み上げられないものの、使用できる紙の枚数が限られているので、土台に枚数を使いすぎると、高さが出せなくなるので、戦略が必要です。
話し合いに時間をかけるチーム、みんなで一緒に作りながら考えるチーム、それぞれが個人で作りながら、どのパターンで作るかを相談しているチームなど、個性がでました。
限られた時間で、相手に自分のイメージがチームメンバーにわかるように伝え、相談しながら作業を進めることが必要ですが、これは保育をしながら生徒の安全を守るためにも非常に重要な能力でもあります。
このアクティビティを通し、楽しみながらコミュニケーションをとることで、良いアイスブレイクとなりました。
子どもの命を守る安全管理や危機管理も保育の重要な要素です。
あるキャンパスでは、机に座って授業を受けるようなスタイルではなく、嘔吐処理では実際に嘔吐処理キットを使い、手順を確認したり、実際にキャンパスで危険な個所がないか、全員で確認しました。
「この部分が危険なのでカバーをつけよう」「以前こういう怪我があったので、より注意しよう」「安全に使うために、統一のルールを作ろう」など、それぞれの先生が積極的にアイデアを出し、コミュニケーションをとりながら、新年度の生徒の受け入れ準備を整えました。
Staff Training
Congratulations on your child’s new journey! The children are full of joy and excitement as they enter their new class. We will support them so they can grow joyfully and healthily.
At ELC & K, we held staff training sessions during the first week of April. These sessions focused on health, child development, curriculum updates, student handover, class preparation, and training for new staff.
To begin the new school year, we also held team-building activities to foster collaboration and strengthen relationships. At one campus, staff participated in a tower-building challenge where each team used 30 sheets of paper to construct a paper tower that could stand on its own within a limited time.
A tall tower requires a solid foundation, but if you use too many sheets of paper you will run out of paper, so it is important to be strategic. Each team’s personality shone through: some teams took their time planning before building, others talked as they worked, and some had members create individual designs before deciding which one to use.
In the short time available, it was important to clearly communicate your vision to the team, ask for help, and keep the process moving. This mirrors an important skill in our everyday work—keeping children safe through clear communication and teamwork.
The activity helped break the ice and gave staff a fun way to connect and collaborate.
Safety management is also an important part of caring for children.
At one campus, instead of holding a lecture-style session, staff practiced using a real vomit disposal kit and identified potential hazards around the kindergarten. Teachers exchanged ideas, such as covering dangerous spots, preventing repeat injuries, and creating rules to ensure items are used safely.
We are fully prepared and excited to welcome the children back to school for the new year!
