先日、関西国際学園中高等部では、前期の締めくくりのイベントとなるサマーキャンプが行われました！
今年のテーマは、「『Adventure』〜Once in a lifetime adventure〜人生で一度の大冒険」か関西国際学園が所属する世界的な学校のネットワークであるラウンドスクエアのモットーの1つである「Adventure」から生徒たちがタイトルを考えました。その名の通り、今回は例年とは異なる場所に挑戦し、サマーキャンプとしては初の淡路島へ！
現地では、1日目ビーチが見渡せるカフェテリアでのランチ、淡路伝統のお香作り、卓球大会を楽しみ、夕食の後は、初のビーチでのキャンプファイヤーに、こちらも初の試みとなる夏らしい花火を全員で楽しみました。2日目は、前半はビーチバレーとビーチフラッグ、後半は謎解きゲームと、これらもまた今までにない活動で盛り上がりました。
今回のキャンプの実行委員(コミッティー)のメンバーは、G7（中学1年生）からG9（中学3年生）の各学年から立候補で募り、時間をかけてこれらの活動の計画、活動中の運営、パンフレット作りや部屋割り、掃除食事の際の手順などの細やかな活動に至るまで、一から行いました。このキャンプは、コミッティーメンバーにとっても「挑戦」となる機会であり、一つの大きな経験を経て、成長することができました。
またG9は全員で、2日目の活動の計画準備を全て行いました。綿密な計画と準備のおかげで、生徒全員が楽しむことができ、最高の2日目でキャンプを締めくくることができました。その手際の良さと、計画の綿密さと責任感は、この3年間、中高等部で培った彼らの実力の現れであると感じました。今後留学やそれぞれの一年を経て逞しいG10（高校1年生）となって、皆で再会できることが今から楽しみです。
Recently, Kansai International Academy Secondary School held its annual Summer Camp, marking the close of the first term.
This year’s theme, “Adventure – A once in a lifetime experience”, was inspired by one of the mottos of Round Square, the global school network to which KIA belongs. The theme was chosen by the students themselves, reflecting their spirit of curiosity and willingness to challenge new experiences. True to the theme, we ventured to a new destination for our camp—Awaji Island—for the very first time.
On Day 1, students enjoyed lunch at a cafeteria overlooking the beach, took part in a traditional Awaji incense-making workshop, and held a table tennis tournament. After dinner, we gathered for our first-ever beach campfire with hand-held sparklers that perfectly embodied the beautiful summer.
Day 2 began with energetic beach volleyball and beach flag games, followed by a “Nazotoki” (Puzzle Scavenger Hunt) challenge—an activity unlike anything we had experienced in previous years. All students had fun with those unique activities.
The Camp Committee, made up of volunteer students from G7 to G9, worked tirelessly for weeks to plan these activities all by themselves. Their responsibilities included event scheduling, on-site operations, pamphlet creation, room assignments, and even meal and clean-up procedures. This was a genuine test of their organizational skills and teamwork, and it provided an invaluable opportunity for personal growth.
In addition, all G9 students took full responsibility for planning and preparing the second day’s program. Their detailed planning and smooth execution ensured that everyone could enjoy the day to the fullest. The leadership, coordination, and sense of responsibility they demonstrated were clear evidence of the skills they have developed over their three years in secondary school. We are so excited to see everyone return as resilient and confident G10s after their journeys and the challenges of the coming year
It was truly a memorable two days, filled with adventure, teamwork, and lasting memories.
