- English is not the only important aspect to our program
-
We have prepared a program in which our children can have fun while developing the cultural identity necessary as a world citizen. We are not an Eikaiwa school, nor an English tuition school. At our school we teach the social skills to go with the English language to communicate in our global society. This is why we put a lot of energy and resources not only into languages and mathematics, but also into music, physical education, and other extracurricular activities to enhance our children’s learning experiences.

Program

- Impact of the Curriculum Lab
-
At KIA we have an educational research team called the Curriculum Lab. The Curriculum Lab includes Internatnioal and Japanese class teachers as well as full-time bilingual staff who collaborate with national universities and other research institutions to research educational systems, classes and curriculum all around the world. Effective findings are implemented immediately into the curriculum of KIS and SIS. The Lab develops original teaching resources as well. The Lab also oversees teacher development and takes a leading role in the all important staff training. The Lab members are all professionals at developing new programs. It can also organize meeting sessions with parents (booking needed).
- The Curriculum
It’s not just about the language. English is the lingua franca of our academy, and our elementary students study all kinds of disciplines like math, science, social studies, and technology in an English immersion program. We also teach subjects in Japanese in line with the criteria of the Ministry of Education to enhance our children’s knowledge of Japanese history and culture as well. Even from ELC and kindergarten we emphasize “thinking in English”, and train our children to communicate naturally in English. We value the Japanese language too, and teach them to read and write Japanese from an early age.

Multilingual Program

- French

- Chinese
- Chinese is one of the primary languages of the future. In fact there are more Chinese native speakers than English native speakers in the world, and Chinese is listed as one of the official languages of United Nations.
Electives
- We value the network between the school and each home, and communication with the parents
- It is vital for children to study at home. There is a limit to what they can learn at school, so the school needs to be working in tandem with each home. The partnership between the school and the families is also necessary for our children’s protection. We also organize meetings for parents who have concerns about parenting or their child’s education. We also encourage parents to discuss with us immediately if they find anything abnormal with their child. We can arrange a specialist to deal with the problem together.
