We have developed our own curriculum from G1 to G6. We use textbooks commonly used in afterschool classes for advanced learning. We have a wide range of resources to cultivate our students’ abilities to think, apply and express. We align our classes with the criteria of the Ministry of Education to support our students’ future education.

With help from specialists in the field of educational engineering, we have the newest learning equipment and resources available in order to provide classes that are more effective and easier to understand.

Because of the relatively small number of students, we can provide classes that cater to each student’s need. We support every student in their plans for the future, and the small number of students also enables some to study ahead of others.

Thorough with the Basics
We use Kanji and Math drilling booklets, study notes, workbooks, and chapter tests attached to Japanese public school textbooks for thorough revision. We reinforce the basics and also develop concentration skills through reading aloud and calculation using grids.
Developing the Ability to Think and Apply
We employ supplementary resources to broaden their knowledge and cultivate their ability to think and apply. These are put to good use in homework as well.
Learning through Experience
We include many outside school trips in which our children see, hear and feel the world around them. We also have special classes where we invite outside guests who give lectures on a topic of their expertise. These are held several times each year. School trips and invitational classes for 2009 include visits to the library and the Kikkoman Factory, “Life and the body” lecture from a midwife, study on the human satellite “Maido No.1”, lecture from the Sharp weather woman on “the environment and new energy”, and lecture from a policeman on crime prevention.
Make your Ideas known! “KIS Town Works (G4-G6)”
These classes tie in with the various special classes and activities where the students learn through experience. Throughout the term they choose a theme to study in depth and do a presentation. The presentations, which are all full of creativity, have become a very popular part of the term. The upper-grade students are also involved in inviting and preparing guest speakers for invitational classes.

Music – We followed the guidelines of the Ministry of Education to nurture the children’s musical sensitivity. They learn how to play the pianica and recorder, and sing in an ensemble and in a chorus. They also learn songs with sign language which they perform at the graduation ceremony each year.

Physical Education – We invite a specialist P.E. teacher twice a week for P.E. classes. The children do vaulting horses, mat exercise, long distance running and skipping ropes to develop balanced physical strength. Through practicing human gymnastic formations for Sports Day, the children learn the importance of working both as in individual and as a team.

Karate – We have Mr. Kunio Murakami, former world champion and the head of Murakami School of Martial Arts, teaching Karate to our children. It strengthens both body and soul, and the children learn manners and discipline. It also helps cultivate their Japanese identity.
